April embarked on her first of many international experiences not long after graduation. Like Ms. Baynes, April moved to Japan as an English as a Second Language teacher and stayed for one year. Upon return to the United States, April settled into her career in scientific research and continued to travel as a hobby. She had the opportunity to spend time in Brazil with a Rotary International exchange program and as a medical mission to Guatemala. April has settled in the Washington DC area as is the co-founder of Travel Rookies. She is our
Couch to Campus advisor, mentoring our high school and college rookies as they navigate their first adventures.
April also serves as our Run the World coordinator, assisting rookies who want to attend various running related events around the globe. When not coaching our travel rookies, she can be found doing community volunteer work, crocheting, reading or watching horrible reality television.
